To create a community-owned data infrastructure with the base of Geographical digital maps which can be achieved by -
Democratic Governance with public participation is feasible only if the citizens know the availability of resources, their allocation, history, impacts, etc.
The knowledge of information and data in the context of Governance will not reach the common citizens and the governance issues would remain unintelligible to most without interactive visual presentation.
The common citizens can understand the achievements or deviations of Government norms with a dynamic and GIS enabled Information System.
The current challenge is to create infrastructure that can be used by active citizens to incrementally contribute information, which can be made available for display, scrutiny, analysis and thus understanding which is due to -
Currently, participation of citizens in Governance is weak as there are no standards of disclosures and it remains a herculean task to dig out relevant information.
A lot of information is available with people but there are no aggregating platforms owned by a community with data being freely available.
The challenge is to create models of infrastructure (web-portal/mobile apps, query tools, analysis tools, reports etc) which can be customized by specific communities with different focus of interest.
